I recently was given access to an amazing collection of vintage with yet another long time collector and am excited to be able to share some amazing pieces with you! This beauty is a real rarity and not a label you come across every day. Madeleine De Rauch was a Paris couturier from 1932-1973 and was renowned for her fluid evening pieces and sporty, but fabulous day and cocktail wear. This piece is an early 1960s example of her work and is quite stunning. A cream silk brocade has gold thread worked through it to create a subtle puff effect and shimmer. It is cut in the perfect "nod" style of the day and still looks fresh and appealing now. The neckline is high with a darling notched and pointed collar. The waist nips in and the skirt flares out in an almost sculpted feel A-line. I love the double row of big, bold flat gold toned buttons that detail the front skirt. Each sleeve has the same button set French cuff style and each sleeve mimics that perfect A-line shape and widens as it nears its end! A really lovely, rare and wonderful item! Excellent condition!
